Cultural studies

The module is a series of lectures that serve as discussion papers in the class. The module provides an introduction to parts of the European cultural history, including elements of general history (political and sociological), art, literature, philosophy and religion.


PREREQUISITES

General interest in the subject.


LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the student shall:

  • possess basic knowledge of different aspects of cultural life – including different musical styles and other artistic forms of expression
  • have acquired a basic knowledge of various important cultural trends
  • be able to understand and reflect on general terms in various cultural directions
  • be able to put his or her own artistic work into a larger cultural perspective

CONTENTS

Work will be performed in the following areas:

  • knowledge of the institutions of cultural life
  • perceptions of musicality
  • formation concept
  • music and identity
  • music and creativity

Combined across educational directions.

Attentive: May be taken via. distance learning using Zoom.


GROUP FORMATION

Approx. 20 students. Space for 5 distance students.


ASSESSMENT

Certificate subject – passed/not passed at attendance.
