Reconstructive Opera’ is about exploring and unfolding narrative potentials in new contemporary opera. This is done through experiments with character-driven and narrative opera scenes, written especially for the student singers.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, the student:

– Has experience with creative, creative processes

– Has practical experience with artistic research

– Can handle complex and unpredictable, creative challenges in artistic processes

– Knows how musically and vocally work with new composition music


Contents

The teaching is based on a Niels Rønsholdt’s KUV project on ‘Reconstructive opera’. In the class the students work with completely newly written musical material in workshops, and  they get a central role in the first steps in the development of a large opera project.

As a student, the class gives an insight into the work with musical narratives and it is an opportunity to work musically and vocally with musical drama in a community-oriented atmosphere.
