The course will focus on both creative writing and theoretical knowledge.

LEARNINGS OUTCOME

By the end of the module, the student will:

• Have songwriting skills at a basic artistic level
• Possess knowledge of artistic professional practice in songwriting
• Possess knowledge of aesthetic and technical approaches in modern songwriting
• Is mastering critical and analytical approaches to songwriting
• Can handle complex and unpredictable, creative challenges in artistic processes

CONTENTS

We will work with the following areas:

Basic tools in songwriting are used, including text, melody, harmonization and chords. Practical work is done on songwriting and collegial supervision and feedback are provided.

ASSESSMENT

On a date announced by the teacher, 3 songs are submitted – independently prepared by the student in connection with the course. A paper is also prepared that briefly describes each song and the student’s work with it. Evaluation in the form of a 20-minute conversation about the submitted songs and paper. The evaluation is part of the end of the course.

A certificate with the evaluation Approved/Not approved. This certifies that the objectives have been achieved at a level at least corresponding to a Pass and that current attendance rules have been followed.
